Example 1 Characterization of a Multilayer Film

As part of the quality control, a company wants to check the conformity of its film against a set of specifications

Request

This company expresses to the CNEP its need and asks for a quote corresponding to its expectations.

Solution

The CNEP makes an estimate corresponding to the processes implemented to answer its request:
- Cross section using a microtome (ambient or cryogenic) and photomicrography of the section
- Measurements of layer thicknesses under optical microscopy from the section
- FTIR ATR-Thunderdome spectrophotometry and FTIR microspectrophotometry analysis of the different layers

Execution

1 - The company accepts the quotation and transmits to the CNEP the purchase order and the film.
2 - On receipt the film is referenced in our quality system.
3 - The analyzes are carried out according to the proposed estimate

Detailed report

The CNEP writes a documented report with the results of the layer thickness measurements, and the identification of the layers by FTIR spectrophotometry

Example 2 Characterization of an Elastomer

As part of the quality control, a company wants to check the composition of an elastomer against a specification.

Solution

The CNEP makes an estimate corresponding to the processes implemented to answer its request:
- ATR-Thunderdome FTIR spectrophotometry and FTIR microspectrophotometry analysis of the elastomer: chemical structure of the elastomer and mineral fillers detectable by FTIR,
- Thermogravimetric analysis of the elastomer: % elastomer and % mineral fillers
- DSC analysis: determination of the Tg

Execution

1 - The company accepts the quotation and transmits to the CNEP the order form and the elastomer.
2 - On receipt the elastomer is referenced in our quality system.
3 - The analyzes are carried out according to the proposed estimate

Detailed report

The CNEP writes a documented report with the results of the identification, the weight composition and the Tg value of the elastomer

Example 3 Determination of the Transmission Factors of Oxygen and Water Vapor of a Film

A company is looking for an oxygen-impermeable film and a waterproof film

The CNEP makes an estimate corresponding to the processes implemented to answer its request:
- Permeability to oxygen at a temperature of 23°C and dry gases
- Permeability to water vapor at 38°C and 90% RH

1 - The company accepts the quotation and transmits to the CNEP the films with a purchase order.
2 - On receipt the films are referenced in our quality system.
3 - The analyzes are carried out according to the proposed estimate

Detailed report

The CNEP writes a documented report with the results of oxygen permeability in cc / (m² * j) and water vapor permeability in g / (m² * j) of the films.
