Polymers play a central role in many industries, from packaging to automotive to aerospace. However, their widespread use raises concerns about their environmental impact and long-term sustainability. Understanding and mastering the sustainability of polymers The durability of polymers refers to their ability to maintain their performance and structural integrity throughout their life cycle, while minimizing their impact on the environment.<br> This includes their resistance to degradation due to various factors such as light, heat, chemicals and mechanical stress. Sustainability assessment: a multidisciplinary approach To assess the durability of polymers, CNEP uses a multidisciplinary approach combining laboratory tests, cutting-edge analyzes and perfect scientific knowledge of the chemical phenomena involved. This holistic approach allows for a comprehensive and accurate assessment of polymer durability. 1 Accelerated aging tests These tests expose polymers to extreme conditions simulating the effects of time, such as exposure to UV rays, heat and humidity, to assess their resistance to degradation. 2 Analysis of physicochemical properties This method analyzes changes in the physical and chemical properties of polymers over time, such as variation in molecular weight, crack formation, and loss of strength. 3 Correlation with natural aging(s) Our scientific database and modeling are used to predict the long-term behavior of polymers based on various environmental and design factors. Our commitment to sustainability At CNEP, we are committed to supporting the development of sustainable polymers by providing reliable scientific data and recommendations to improve their performance and reduce their environmental impact. By collaborating with industry, researchers and regulators, we work to promote responsible use of polymers for a sustainable future.
